Hyderabad, May 27, 2026: Kernex Microsystems (India) Ltd has secured a major railway safety contract worth ₹475.21 crore from Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) for the deployment of India’s indigenous train protection system, Kavach.
In a regulatory filing on Tuesday, the company said CLW has awarded it a contract for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of on-board Kavach locomotive equipment in accordance with RDSO Specification No. RDSO/SPN/196/2020 Version 4.0 or the latest applicable version.
The contract, valued at ₹475.21 crore, is scheduled to be executed within 12 months from the date of award.
Kavach is India’s indigenously-developed automatic train protection (ATP) system designed to improve railway safety by preventing collisions, signal passing at danger (SPAD), and overspeeding incidents. Indian Railways has been accelerating the rollout of the technology across key routes as part of its broader railway modernization and safety enhancement programme.
Kernex Microsystems said the order significantly strengthens its revenue visibility and further reinforces its position in the railway safety and signalling sector.
The company has been actively involved in the development and deployment of railway safety technologies and is among the key beneficiaries of the government’s increasing focus on indigenous rail signalling and train protection systems.
The latest order comes amid growing investments by Indian Railways in Kavach deployment, with locomotive and route coverage expanding rapidly across the national rail network. Industry participants expect the large-scale implementation of the system to create substantial opportunities for technology providers and railway equipment manufacturers over the coming years.
