Shri Hare-Krishna Sponge Iron Limited has announced a major diversification move with the launch of a new business line focused on manufacturing specialised engineered steel and precision castings known as “Tooth Points.” These high-performance components are widely used across industries such as automobiles (HEMM), defence, mining (coal, iron ore, bauxite and others), and cement manufacturing.
According to the company, the new initiative positions it to substitute imports by offering high-quality, indigenously manufactured products under the “Make in India” banner, thereby supporting self-reliance in critical industrial segments. The project is also expected to strengthen the company’s business mix, reduce dependency on existing operations, and create long-term opportunities for expansion and improved profitability.
Hare-Krishna Sponge Iron estimates an investment of ₹30–40 crore for the new line. The final capital outlay will depend on factors such as scale of operations, R&D expenditure, technology and equipment requirements, and regulatory compliance, the company said.
With growing demand for specialised engineered steel components in India’s core industrial sectors, the company expects its entry into the “Tooth Point” segment to unlock new revenue streams and enhance its competitive position in the years ahead.
