Borana Weaves Limited, one of India’s leading producers of synthetic greige fabric, announced the commissioning of an additional 108 water jet looms at its Unit 4 facility, marking a major milestone in the company’s expansion plan. The commissioning comes three months ahead of schedule, underscoring the company’s operational efficiency and strong demand momentum.
The total capital expenditure for Unit 4 stands at ₹71.35 crore, funded entirely from IPO proceeds. Once fully operational, the unit will house 348 advanced water jet looms with a production capacity of 112.75 million meters per annum (approximately 9.39 million meters per month). Currently, 300 looms have commenced production, while the remaining 48 are expected to become operational by October 2025.
Following the completion of this expansion, Borana Weaves’ total production capacity will reach 346 million meters per year, further consolidating its position in the synthetic greige fabrics market. The company expects to strengthen its market share from 20–25% to nearly 25–30%, while achieving improved operating margins through enhanced scale efficiencies and reduced outsourcing. Highlighting the company’s focus on sustainability, the new unit utilizes high-speed water jet weaving technology, which is more energy-efficient and eco-friendly compared to conventional weaving methods.
Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Rajkumar Borana, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Borana Weaves, said:
“The accelerated execution of Unit 4 reflects our commitment to responding swiftly to rising demand trends. Commissioning the unit ahead of schedule is a direct outcome of strong order inflows and robust demand visibility. This expansion marks a significant step toward our vision of becoming one of India’s largest producers of synthetic greige fabric.”
