New Delhi, May 5, 2026: AGI Greenpac Limited has commenced construction of a greenfield aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, with a planned investment of ₹1,000 crore.
The company said the project marks its entry into the aluminium beverage packaging segment and is aimed at creating a world-class manufacturing hub to cater to rising demand for sustainable beverage packaging solutions in India.
The facility, spread across 34 acres, is scheduled to begin operations in the first half of 2027. At launch, the plant will operate two high-speed production lines with a combined installed capacity of 1.6 billion cans annually, while initial production is targeted at 1.3 billion cans per year.
According to AGI Greenpac Limited, the facility has been designed with future scalability in mind and can eventually expand to a production capacity exceeding 2 billion cans annually through debottlenecking and advanced necking technology upgrades.
The plant will manufacture multiple aluminium can formats, including standard, sleek and slim variants, catering to beverage categories such as carbonated soft drinks, beer, energy drinks and ready-to-drink products.
Commenting on the development, Rajesh Khosla said the investment reflects the company’s confidence in India’s long-term growth and evolving packaging industry opportunities.
The company highlighted sustainability as a core aspect of the project, stating that the Hathras facility is being developed to achieve Platinum Green Building certification under India’s green building framework. The plant will incorporate energy-efficient and resource-optimised manufacturing systems.
AGI Greenpac noted that aluminium’s infinite recyclability makes it a preferred packaging material for beverage companies pursuing circular economy and sustainability goals.
Strategically located in Uttar Pradesh, the facility is expected to provide logistical advantages for serving North and Central Indian markets, enabling faster deliveries and lower transportation costs for beverage manufacturers.
The company also stated that its existing glass packaging operations would create cross-segment synergies and strengthen its position as an integrated packaging solutions provider.
India’s aluminium beverage can market currently has an estimated annual manufacturing capacity of around 3.9 billion cans and is expected to grow at a double-digit pace, driven by premiumisation trends, urban consumption growth and increasing adoption of sustainable packaging formats.
AGI Greenpac Limited operates across glass packaging, PET bottles, security closures and now aluminium cans, with seven manufacturing plants across India serving more than 500 institutional clients.
