Solarworld Signs BESPA for 200 MW / 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage Project in Gujarat

Solarworld Energy Solutions Limited has entered into a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for the development of a 200 MW / 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Gujarat.

The agreement was signed on December 8, 2025, and relates to an “on-demand” energy storage project awarded under Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (Phase VI), pursuant to a Letter of Intent issued on May 28, 2025. The project will be implemented over a 12-year period. The order value is estimated at approximately ₹806.40 crore, excluding taxes, over the tenure of the contract. The project will be executed within India and represents a commercial order from a domestic entity.

According to the company, the BESS project will support grid stability and flexibility by enabling energy storage and on-demand power supply, aligning with Gujarat’s and India’s broader renewable energy and energy transition goals.

Solarworld stated that the signing of the BESPA marks a significant milestone in its energy storage portfolio and strengthens its position in the rapidly evolving battery energy storage segment. The company continues to focus on expanding its presence across renewable energy and allied infrastructure projects in India.
