Premier Explosives Secures ₹429.56 Crore Defence Order for Chaff and Flares

Premier Explosives Limited has announced that it has received orders from the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, for the supply of chaff and flares valued at ₹429.56 crore (including GST). The orders will be fulfilled for the Indian Air Force within a period of twelve months.

According to a regulatory filing, the contract has been awarded by the Ministry of Defence, New Delhi, and involves the supply of advanced chaff and flare systems — critical aircraft protection technologies used by the armed forces. The order is domestic in nature and is expected to significantly strengthen the company’s defence manufacturing pipeline.

Chaff and flares are vital countermeasure devices used by military aircraft to evade enemy radar and heat-seeking missiles. Chaff consists of small metallic strips deployed mid-air to create false radar signatures and confuse tracking systems, while flares emit intense heat to mislead infrared-guided missiles. These systems play a crucial role during hostile engagements, protecting both pilots and aircraft.
