Nagpur, June 30, 2025 — MMP Electricals Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MMP Industries, has officially commenced commercial production of silicone composite insulators at its state-of-the-art facility located at Plot A-27, MIDC Umred, Nagpur. This marks a significant diversification move by the company into the high-performance electrical components segment.
₹35–40 Crore Project, Phased Expansion
The project, with a total planned investment of ₹35–40 crore, is being implemented in two phases. Phase I, involving an outlay of ₹17–18 crore, has been completed and commercial production is now underway. Phase II, with an additional investment of ₹15–20 crore, is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of FY 2026. Once fully operational, the facility will have an annual production capacity of 10 lakh units.
Addressing India’s Power Infrastructure Needs
The facility has started manufacturing silicone composite insulators for up to 33 kV and aims to expand its product range to cover high-voltage insulators up to 765 kV. These products are critical components for transmission lines, substations, and grid modernization projects as India ramps up investments in power infrastructure.
Silicone composite insulators—made of a fiberglass core and silicone rubber housing—offer distinct advantages over traditional ceramic alternatives. They are lightweight, highly durable, weather-resistant, and designed to perform reliably under extreme environmental conditions.
Strategic Market Focus
Initially, MMP Electricals will serve MMP Industries’ existing clientele in aluminium cables and conductors, while simultaneously developing new domestic partnerships. The company is also exploring export opportunities in both emerging and developed markets, leveraging the increasing global demand for energy-efficient and modern transmission systems.
