Linc Limited, one of India’s leading writing instrument manufacturers, has officially announced the launch of its joint venture with Japan’s Mitsubishi Pencil Co. Ltd., the makers of the globally acclaimed Uni brand. The new entity, UNI LINC INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, marks a significant milestone in India’s writing instruments industry, combining Japanese innovation with Indian manufacturing strength and market reach.
Headquartered in Gujarat, UNI LINC INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED was established in January 2025 with a capital of ₹200 million (approximately ¥340 million). Mitsubishi Pencil holds a 51% stake in the venture, while Linc Limited owns 49%. The joint venture is focused on the manufacturing and sales of writing instruments tailored for the Indian market, while also serving as a strategic hub for exports in the future.
Production commenced in September 2025, beginning with a range of ballpoint pens designed specifically to meet the demands of India’s large and diverse consumer base. The products integrate Mitsubishi Pencil’s hallmark precision and quality with pricing suited to India’s high-volume market. The portfolio will gradually expand to include value-added writing instruments, further strengthening Linc’s product lineup.
The official inauguration ceremony of the new facility took place on October 1, 2025, and was attended by senior leaders from both companies. The event celebrated not only the operational launch but also the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership between the two industry leaders.
