Indian Hume Pipe Wins ₹418 Crore Irrigation Project in Maharashtra

Mumbai, April 24, 2026: The Indian Hume Pipe Company Limited has received a Letter of Intent for a major irrigation project worth ₹417.97 crore (excluding GST) from the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation (MKVDC).

 

The contract has been awarded by the Executive Engineer, Jihe Kathapur Lift Irrigation Division, Satara, and pertains to the construction of headworks and a closed pipe distribution system for the Ner Direct Gravity Main under the Guruvarya Late Laxmanraoji Inamdar Lift Irrigation Scheme.

 

Project Scope and Timeline

 

The project involves developing key irrigation infrastructure, including headworks and a pipeline-based water distribution system designed to improve water delivery efficiency in the region. It will be executed over a period of 48 months under a percentage-rate (B1) contract model. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance irrigation coverage and water management in Satara district, supporting agricultural productivity and rural development.

 

Strategic Importance

 

Lift irrigation and pipeline distribution systems are increasingly being adopted to reduce water losses and ensure equitable distribution across command areas. The project is expected to benefit farmers by providing more reliable access to water, particularly in drought-prone regions of Maharashtra.

The order strengthens Indian Hume Pipe’s presence in the water infrastructure segment and adds to its execution pipeline in the irrigation sector.
