Centum Electronics Limited has secured an order from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the design and development of Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar systems for the Utility Helicopter–Maritime (UH-M) platform.
The radar system will enable the helicopter to detect, classify and track multiple maritime targets, significantly enhancing surveillance capabilities.
The current contract pertains to Phase-1 of the programme involving the design and development of the radar systems. The Phase‑1 purchase order is valued at ₹66 crore, with a gross value of ₹78 crore including GST.
Following successful completion, the programme may progress to Phase‑2 involving serial production and supply over five years. Phase‑2 is estimated at around ₹500 crore (₹590 crore including GST).
The programme will enable Centum to demonstrate its capabilities in advanced radar technologies and strengthen its relationship with HAL.
