Borosil Scientific to Invest ₹60 Crore to Expand Bharuch Glassware Capacity

Borosil Scientific Limited has approved a ₹60 crore expansion of its glassware manufacturing capacity at Bharuch, Gujarat, to cater to rising demand from Borosil Limited.

The company currently has an annual production capacity of around 15 lakh units for the glassware products covered under the expansion, with capacity utilisation at approximately 87%. The proposed facility will increase this capacity to around 108 lakh units per annum.

Commercial production from the additional facility is expected to commence by March 2027.

The expansion will increase annual capacity from 15 lakh units to 108 lakh units, an addition of 93 lakh units or a 620% increase.

Borosil Scientific currently supplies these glassware products to Borosil Limited under an existing manufacturing arrangement. The company said the expansion will enable it to meet higher sourcing requirements from Borosil Limited while improving utilisation of its manufacturing infrastructure.

The estimated capital expenditure of ₹60 crore will be funded through internal accruals and/or borrowings. The company also plans to apply for eligible subsidy benefits under the Viksit Gujarat Industrial Policy 2026.

The expansion represents a more than sevenfold increase in capacity for the identified glassware products, providing Borosil Scientific with additional manufacturing capacity to support future demand.
