Mumbai, July 21: Engineering company Batliboi Ltd has secured a ₹52 crore contract from SAEL Industries Ltd to design, supply, install and commission pollution control equipment for the latter’s upcoming 6 GW solar cell manufacturing facility at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh.
The order has been awarded to Batliboi’s Engineering & Environmental Group (EEG) Division, which will execute the complete design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of a PEX System for the greenfield manufacturing plant. The project is expected to be commissioned over the next six to eight months.
The contract marks another significant industrial order for Batliboi’s environmental engineering business as manufacturers expand domestic solar cell production to support India’s clean energy and import substitution goals.
A PEX (Process Exhaust) system is a critical environmental and safety infrastructure in semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing facilities. During solar cell production, several chemical processes generate hazardous fumes, acidic vapours and airborne contaminants. The PEX system safely captures these emissions at their source, transports them through a network of corrosion-resistant ducts and treats them before they are released into the atmosphere. Besides ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, the system helps maintain cleanroom conditions, protects workers from exposure to hazardous gases and ensures the stable operation of precision manufacturing equipment.
SAEL Industries is setting up a 6 GW solar cell manufacturing line at Jewar, one of the country’s emerging renewable energy manufacturing hubs. The addition of advanced pollution control systems forms an integral part of such facilities, where maintaining stringent environmental and process standards is essential for high-volume solar cell production.
For Batliboi, the order strengthens its presence in India’s fast-growing clean energy manufacturing ecosystem. The company has built expertise in providing engineered environmental solutions, including air pollution control, industrial ventilation and process exhaust systems for sectors requiring stringent environmental compliance.
