2025: A Look Back at Three Interesting Launches from Small Companies

Each new year brings with it a look back at the previous year: what sectors stood out, how the markets fared, what grew, what shrunk. But instead of looking at numbers, prices and indices, we’re featuring three (relatively) small companies that launched interesting and innovative products that may make life better for consumers and the general public. From electric scooters to homegrown premium LED displays and at-home dental services, here’s a closer look at Simple Energy, Titan Intech and Cura Care, and their unique offerings from 2025.

Titan Intech: UltraLED Displays

What: Premium LED display product line developed domestically in India, a step beyond imported panels and assembly into core technology development.

Incorporated in 1984, Titan Intech Limited (no relation to the watch company Titan) is in the business of IT and data centres, including Embedded Manufacturing Services (EMS) for OEM/ODM solutions and advanced embedded systems. The company has offices in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and also offers products including LED displays, home theatre systems and commercial TVs.

The latest launch, UltraLED, is a premium LED display brand that expands the company’s role from assembly and distribution into developing and owning core LED display technology and products. The UltraLED range has been built via in-house R&D and a technology partnership with a South Korean firm (Media Information Communication Co Ltd), that enabled Titan Intech to localise LED, SMD, MiP, Mini-LED and LCD control systems. UltraLED marks a shift toward indigenous electronics technology and hardware innovation, building proprietary tech domestically, rather than just assembling imported components.

Simple Energy: Simple One Gen 2 Electric Scooter

What: An enhanced version of the Simple One electric scooter with upgraded performance, digital features, and usability improvements.

The EV market in India is growing and generating a lot of buzz, with more players entering the fray and launching two, three and four wheel models. Founded in 2019, the Bangalore-based Simple Energy designs and manufactures what it describes as high-performance smart electric scooters for urban consumers. Their USP is that they develop their own battery technology, including variants that don’t require rare earth metals.

While new EV scooter launches are nothing new, this variant from Simple Energy is noteworthy because it promises refined design, upgraded technology (the new model has 4.5 kWh and 5 kWh battery options) and better range (the company claims of 265 km on a single charge, positioning it among the longest-range electric scooters available in India today.) Improved battery and range addresses one of the biggest adoption barriers for EVs: range anxiety. Simple is also offering the product at a highly competitive price point of ₹1.40 lakh.

Beyond hardware, Simple Energy has also invested in the rider experience. According to Autonexa, the Gen 2 features a more advanced digital dashboard and improved connected systems, enabling smarter vehicle diagnostics, smoother interface interactions, and tighter integration between software and hardware.

Though not listed yet, the company has plans to raise $30-40 million from international investors, to boost production capacity and establish a second manufacturing facility, and is eyeing an IPO by FY27.

Cura Care: Dentist at your doorstep

What: A health-tech startup that brings professional dental care directly to homes and workplaces. It transforms traditional dental visits by removing barriers of time constraints and access.

The youngest of the lot, this healthcare startup launched in early 2025 and has generated plenty of buzz and interest among the public and investors. (There are, however, no known IPO plans as of now.)

With everything from groceries to salon services and IKEA furniture assembly available at your doorstep, dental care couldn’t be far behind. Cura Care was launched in January 2025 by IIT alumni Abhinav Kumar and Chinmay Mittal along with dental surgeon Dr Paminder Singh and delivers quality dental care services at home (currently operational in Bangalore).

Cura Care functions via their website, and after booking an appointment, they send qualified, DCI-registered dentists and assistants to your home. Their team arrives with a lightweight portable, dental chair, a teeth cleaning machine, and sterilised tool kits. Services include teeth cleaning and scaling, teeth whitening, enamel protection, sensitivity protection, and detailed oral assessments.

Reports indicate that the company has treated over 1000 customers since its launch through home visits and oral wellness camps in Bangalore alone. So far, the startup has managed to raise 5 crore in pre-seed funding led by Zeropearl VC, along with participation from friends, family, and angel investors.

Addressing real problems

What makes Simple Energy, Titan Intech, and Cura Care is not just innovation, but a focus on India-first problem-solving. Together, these companies reflect a maturing entrepreneurial ecosystem — one focused less on copying global models and more on building scalable, locally-relevant solutions. As the country’s innovation ecosystem grows and expands, companies are shifting focus from just floating ambitious ideas to refining products, owning core technology, and solving everyday problems at scale.
