INOX India Wins Major Contract for World’s Largest Liquid Air Energy Storage Project in UK

INOX India Ltd (INOXCVA), a leader in cryogenic technology solutions, has secured a landmark contract from Highview Power, UK, to supply cutting-edge cryogenic tanks for the world’s largest Liquid Air Energy Storage (LAES) project in Carrington, Manchester. This project will utilize liquid air storage to create a sustainable, long-duration energy storage solution. INOX India will deliver five 690-kiloliter vertical, high-pressure EN design vacuum-insulated cryogenic tanks, marking the largest such tanks the company has ever fabricated and the first time cryogenic tanks are being deployed at this scale for clean energy storage.

The Manchester LAES project represents a breakthrough in energy storage by addressing renewable energy intermittency and enhancing grid stability. Once operational in 2026, the facility will offer a storage capacity of 300 MWh with an output of 50 MW per hour for up to six hours, significantly advancing the UK’s renewable energy capabilities and supporting its Net Zero ambitions.

Siddharth Jain, Promoter and Non-Executive Director of INOX India Ltd, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “Partnering with Highview Power on this groundbreaking renewable energy project highlights our expertise in cryogenic solutions and our commitment to global sustainability. This contract underlines our capacity to deliver large-scale, complex cryogenic equipment tailored to meet specific customer needs.”

Highview Power’s Co-Founder and CEO, Richard Butland, emphasized the importance of this partnership, noting, “As we strive toward Net Zero, strong partnerships like ours with INOXCVA are essential. This LAES project will enhance the UK’s energy security and support the economy by stabilizing renewable power availability.”
