Jupiter Wagons Limited (JWL), a leader in integrated mobility solutions across rail, road, and marine transportation, has announced a landmark acquisition to strengthen its electric mobility portfolio. Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), JWL’s electric mobility-focused subsidiary, has acquired the technology and assets of Log9’s Railway and Electric Battery divisions, marking a significant step in its mission to lead India’s electric transportation sector.
The acquisition includes Log9’s engineering and production teams dedicated to railway and electric truck battery technologies, who will now join JEM. Additionally, JEM will take ownership of Log9’s state-of-the-art battery manufacturing facility located in Devanahalli, Bangalore, which is set to play a critical role in JEM’s operations. This facility will enable JEM to produce batteries in-house, particularly for its electric light commercial vehicles (eLCVs), strengthening its position in the competitive electric truck market by achieving backward integration in battery production.
In a strategic boost to JWL’s railway segment, the acquisition of Log9’s railway battery technology broadens JEM’s Railways Product Landscape. JEM and Log9 have already experienced early success in this area, having piloted battery solutions for Indian Railways and recently securing a Vande Bharat battery order in partnership with Siemens.
