WABAG Secures Major Industrial Water Treatment Contracts Worth INR 360 Crores

VA TECH WABAG (‘WABAG’), a leading water technology multinational, has strengthened its leadership in the industrial water treatment sector by securing two major orders worth approximately INR 360 crores. The company has been awarded a Design, Build, Operate (DBO) contract from GAIL (India) Limited (GAIL) and a repeat Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contract from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).

GAIL Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Project

WABAG has secured an order worth INR 340 crores for the DBO of a 450 cum/hr Ultra-Filtration (UF) and Reverse Osmosis (RO)-based Effluent Recycle Plant, an Evaporator-based ZLD Plant, a new Wastewater Treatment Plant, and the augmentation of an existing Wastewater Treatment Plant. These facilities will be installed at GAIL’s integrated petrochemical complex in Pata, Uttar Pradesh.

The Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) phase of this project will be completed over 24 months, followed by six months of O&M. The recovered water from this plant will be reused as Cooling Tower Make-Up water. Projects and Development India Limited (PDIL) has been appointed as the Engineer-In-Charge for this initiative.

IOCL Panipat Refinery O&M Contract

WABAG has also secured a repeat O&M order from IOCL, valued at INR 20 crores, for the Tertiary Treatment Reverse Osmosis (TTRO) Plant at IOCL’s Panipat Refinery, Haryana. The O&M contract will extend for an additional three years. Notably, this TTRO Plant, designed, constructed, and commissioned by WABAG in 2006, was the first industrial water recycling facility in India’s oil and gas sector. WABAG has been overseeing its operations since its inception nearly two decades ago.
