WABAG Secures €78 Million Order for Wastewater Treatment Plants in Zambia

VA TECH WABAG (‘WABAG’), an Indian multinational and a global leader in water technology, has won a prestigious Design, Build & Operate (DBO) contract worth approximately €78 million (around ₹700 crore) from Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company (LWSC) in Zambia. The project is funded by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Germany’s Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW).

 

This strategic win marks WABAG’s foray into Zambia, further strengthening its footprint in Africa and reinforcing its position as a leading provider of comprehensive water solutions on the continent.

 

Under the contract, WABAG will oversee the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of two state-of-the-art Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs) in Ngwerere and Chunga, with capacities of 54 million liters per day (MLD) and 19 MLD, respectively. The EPC phase is scheduled to be completed within 36 months, followed by 24 months of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) to ensure long-term efficiency and performance.
