Vishnusurya Projects and Infra Limited, in consortium with JWIL Infra Limited (JWIL) and IDE Technologies India Private Limited (IDE), has won a ₹2,217 crore contract from the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) for the development of a 60 million litres per day (MLD) seawater desalination plant at Mullakadu in Tuticorin district.
The project will be implemented under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis. It includes a 6-month conditions precedent period, 30 months of construction, and operation, maintenance, and transfer of the facility over 15 years. The total project cost of ₹2,217 crore is inclusive of all taxes and charges.
The upcoming desalination plant is expected to significantly boost water availability for industries in Tamil Nadu, ensuring sustainable supply in one of the state’s key industrial hubs. The project highlights SIPCOT’s continued focus on building critical infrastructure through PPP models.
With this win, Vishnusurya Projects and Infra Ltd, along with its consortium partners, strengthens its position in India’s water infrastructure sector, particularly in large-scale desalination solutions.
