In a significant boost to its urban transport portfolio, Titagarh Rail Systems Limited has received a Letter of Acceptance from NCC Limited for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of rolling stock for Mumbai Metro Line 6. The contract, valued at approximately ₹1,598.55 crore, was awarded on August 2, 2025.
The project, part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority’s (MMRDA) Line 6 corridor from Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli (Eastern Express Highway), involves the delivery of 18 six-car trains — a total of 108 metro coaches. In addition to the initial delivery, the scope includes two years of defect liability maintenance followed by five years of comprehensive maintenance.
The design and build phase will be completed within 104 weeks, after which the defect liability and maintenance periods will commence. The contract was awarded by a domestic entity, and Titagarh Rail Systems Limited confirmed that there is no promoter or related-party interest involved.
This order marks a major milestone for Titagarh Rail Systems Limited as a specialised subcontractor in rolling stock manufacturing, reinforcing its role in India’s expanding metro rail infrastructure.
