Taylormade Renewables Secures Regulatory Approval for Tarapur Wastewater Treatment Plant, Begins Trial Operations

Taylormade Renewables Limited (TRL) has announced a major milestone in its Build-Own-Operate (BOO) strategy with its subsidiary, Taylormade Enviro Pvt. Ltd. (TEPL), receiving the Consent to Operate (CTO) from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) for its advanced wastewater treatment facility in Tarapur. The approval clears the way for the formal commencement of trial operations and performance testing at the state-of-the-art plant.

This landmark project, developed entirely in India using TRL’s proprietary technology, is designed to treat some of the most toxic and complex hazardous industrial effluents—streams typically deemed untreatable by conventional methods. The facility has already successfully processed over 300,000 litres of hazardous wastewater, with an additional 300,000 litres scheduled for processing over the next quarter as part of its phased commissioning.

A New Standard in Industrial Wastewater Treatment

The Tarapur plant exemplifies TRL’s mission to provide innovative and sustainable solutions to India’s growing industrial wastewater challenge. Featuring zero liquid discharge (ZLD) technology, integrated automation, and high-efficiency systems, the facility stands as a showcase of TRL’s Make in India ethos, with every aspect of the project — from design to engineering and automation — executed domestically.

“This plant is more than just infrastructure,” a company spokesperson stated. “It is a demonstration of TRL’s technological leadership and commitment to solving one of the industry’s most critical environmental issues — the treatment of highly toxic and recalcitrant wastewater that few others are willing or able to handle.”

Revenue Potential and National Expansion

Backed by secured long-term service contracts, the Tarapur plant is projected to generate ₹100 crore in topline revenue, offering a stable and high-margin income stream while delivering tangible environmental and regulatory compliance benefits to client industries.

Buoyed by the success of Tarapur, TRL is now preparing to deploy similar BOO facilities in Dahej and Sayakha, two of Gujarat’s key industrial hubs. These upcoming projects form part of the company’s broader BOO rollout strategy, aimed at addressing India’s critical need for advanced, scalable wastewater treatment infrastructure.
