Sportking India Ltd has announced a major greenfield expansion project aimed at significantly increasing its spinning capacity to meet rising market demand.
In the first phase, the company will set up 1.5 lakh spindles in Odisha, representing an approximately 40% increase over its current capacity of 3.79 lakh spindles. The project will involve a total investment of around ₹1,000 crore, funded through a mix of term loans and internal accruals.
The expansion is expected to be completed within 12 to 15 months. With its existing plants already operating at an industry-leading utilisation rate of over 95%, Sportking sees the additional capacity as a substantial growth opportunity.
The new facility’s location in Odisha will also enable the company to better serve the eastern Indian market, enhancing its geographical diversification and improving supply chain efficiency.
This strategic move underlines Sportking’s commitment to scaling operations and strengthening its position in the country’s textile manufacturing sector.
