Patel Engineering Limited has received two Letters of Intent (LOIs) for the execution of large-scale excavation and coal transportation works at the Jhiria West Open Cast Project (OCP) in the Hasdeo Area of Bilaspur district, Chhattisgarh. The aggregate value of the contracts is ₹798.19 crore, excluding taxes.
The orders have been awarded by Saidax Engineers and Infrastructure Private Limited for works to be carried out on behalf of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL). Both contracts have been awarded by a domestic entity and will be executed over a period of nine years, providing long-term revenue visibility.
The scope of work includes overburden removal and rehandling, coal cutting using surface miners, loading and transportation of coal, as well as the hiring, operation and maintenance of all required plant and equipment. Patel Engineering will also be responsible for the supply of diesel, deployment of the necessary workforce, and overall execution of the mining operations in line with the contract conditions.
The company clarified that its promoters and promoter group have no interest in the entity awarding the contracts and that the orders do not constitute related-party transactions, having been awarded on an arm’s-length basis.
According to Patel Engineering, the contracts further strengthen its presence in the mining and heavy infrastructure segment and add sizeable, long-duration projects to its order book.
