Oriana Power Limited has been awarded a prestigious Letter of Award (LOA) by NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, for the development of a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Rajasthan. The total project value is estimated at ₹465.15 crore, including GST.
Under the contract, Oriana Power will set up a standalone BESS facility with a capacity of 125 MW / 250 MWH at the Giral Substation in Rajasthan. The project will be implemented under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model through tariff-based competitive bidding. The scope includes the installation of grid-scale batteries capable of complete two-cycle daily charging and discharging to support on-demand energy requirements.
The initiative aims to enhance grid reliability by balancing electricity supply and demand, reducing blackout risks, and improving overall efficiency of the power infrastructure. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months from the effective date of the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA).
The awarded project will receive Viability Gap Funding (VGF) of approximately ₹67.5 crore, based on the estimated cost. Oriana Power emphasized that this win marks a significant milestone in its journey to become a key player in India’s clean energy and storage segment.
“This project underscores our commitment to building sustainable, future-ready energy infrastructure and contributing to India’s energy transition goals,” the company stated.
The contract was awarded by a domestic public sector entity and does not involve any related party transactions. With this award, Oriana Power continues to expand its footprint in the renewable and energy storage sector, aligning with national objectives for grid modernization and renewable energy integration.
