Kinetic Group Launches Range-X Battery Manufacturing Facility in Ahmednagar

Kinetic Group, a leading name in India’s automotive components industry, has announced the readiness of its advanced battery manufacturing facility in Ahmednagar. With an investment of INR 50 crore, the facility marks the Group’s entry into the electric vehicle (EV) battery segment under the brand name Range-X.

The new manufacturing unit boasts a production capacity of 60,000 high-performance battery packs per year, catering to both two- and three-wheeler electric vehicles. The company plans to supply these advanced batteries not only to its own EV brands but also to other OEMs, further bolstering India’s rapidly growing EV ecosystem.

Cutting-Edge Battery Technology

Range-X batteries will feature the latest Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) technologies. The LFP batteries, known for their stable chemical composition, significantly reduce the risk of thermal runaway, ensuring peak performance even under extreme conditions. Additionally, smart Battery Management System (BMS) integration enhances efficiency and extends battery life.

Kinetic Group’s NMC battery technology will provide superior energy density, offering longer-lasting power with a high charge-discharge rate. The facility is also developing prismatic cells specifically designed for three-wheelers, a growing segment in India’s EV market.

Commitment to Sustainability and Innovation

The Ahmednagar facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art automated production line featuring IoT-enabled POKEYOKE systems and stage-wise inspections, ensuring precision, quality, and compliance with industry standards such as AIS 156 and AIS 004.

Kinetic Group is actively working on localizing Battery Management Systems (BMS) and aligning with India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes under the PM E-Drive for Make in India initiative. The company’s focus on sustainable and ethically sourced materials reflects its commitment to environmental responsibility.

Driving India’s EV Growth

The Indian EV market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 28.52%, reaching USD18.319 billion by 2029. This rapid expansion presents significant opportunities for Kinetic Group’s Range-X batteries, positioning them as a crucial player in the country’s EV revolution.

Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Kinetic Group, stated, “Range-X is a result of pioneering work in batteries and a significant step towards India’s mobility transformation. The Ahmednagar facility represents our dedication to self-reliance, safety, and sustainability in battery technology. By integrating cutting-edge automation and smart technology, the facility ensures reliable, efficient, and clean energy solutions.”

With this strategic expansion, Kinetic Group reaffirms its commitment to advancing India’s EV infrastructure, setting new benchmarks in battery technology, and supporting the nation’s transition toward sustainable mobility.
