Specialty chemicals manufacturer Epigral Ltd has approved an investment of ₹600 crore to establish a new epoxy resin and formulations facility along with a multi-purpose plant (MPP) at its manufacturing complex in Dahej, Gujarat, as part of its strategy to broaden its product portfolio and cater to rising demand.
The company disclosed the development following a meeting of its board of directors on July 27.
According to the company, the proposed epoxy resin and formulations unit will have an annual production capacity of 125,000 tonnes. Both the epoxy resin facility and the multi-purpose plant are expected to become operational during the second half of the 2028 financial year. The project will be funded through a combination of debt and internal accruals.
The expansion marks Epigral’s entry into another high-value segment of the specialty chemicals industry, as epoxy resins are widely used in sectors such as construction, electronics, automobiles, renewable energy, paints and coatings, adhesives, and industrial composites.
The proposed multi-purpose plant is expected to provide the company with greater operational flexibility, enabling it to manufacture a wider range of specialty chemical products while responding more quickly to changing market requirements.
Located in Gujarat’s industrial belt, the Dahej manufacturing complex serves as Epigral’s primary production hub. The company has steadily expanded its presence in the chlor-alkali and derivatives segment while increasing its focus on value-added downstream products.
The latest investment reflects the growing interest among Indian chemical manufacturers in expanding into specialised product categories amid rising domestic demand and efforts by global customers to diversify their supply chains.
The project is also expected to strengthen Epigral’s position in the domestic market and create opportunities to increase exports over the long term. With the commissioning of the new facilities, the company is likely to enhance the scale of its operations and deepen its presence in the specialty chemicals sector.
