Mumbai, June 2: John Cockerill India Ltd and its wholly-owned subsidiary, John Cockerill Metal International SA (JCMI), have secured a major contract from JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Ltd for setting up processing lines for a cold-rolled non-oriented (CRNO) electrical steel project, with the aggregate contract value estimated at ₹1,250-1,300 crore.
In a regulatory filing on Tuesday, the company said the scope of work includes design, engineering, supply, supervision of erection and commissioning of two Annealing and Coating Lines (ACL 1 and ACL 2) and one Annealing and Pickling Line (APL) for the CRNO project.
The order has been awarded by a domestic entity and is scheduled to be executed within 36 months from May 2026.
According to the company, the overall contract value comprises approximately ₹550 crore for John Cockerill India Ltd, €30-35 million for Belgium-based subsidiary John Cockerill Metal International SA, and around ₹400 crore for the consortium portion involving a furnace supplier group.
The project marks a significant order win for the company and strengthens its presence in the steel processing equipment segment.
Headquartered in Navi Mumbai, John Cockerill India is engaged in the design and manufacture of cold rolling mills, processing lines and industrial equipment for the steel and metals industry. The company is part of the global John Cockerill Group, which provides engineering and technology solutions across energy, defence, industry and environmental sectors.
The order comes amid rising investments in India’s electrical steel manufacturing sector, driven by growing demand from electric vehicles, renewable energy and power equipment industries.
