Ahmedabad, May 12, 2026: Sanstar Limited, one of India’s leading producers of maize-based specialty products and ingredient solutions, has commissioned its expanded native starch manufacturing capacity at its Dhule facility in Maharashtra, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy.
The expansion is part of the company’s broader capacity enhancement programme funded through IPO proceeds. Sanstar said it has fully utilized the ₹1,816 million earmarked for the Dhule expansion project.
With the commissioning of the new facility, Sanstar is progressing toward increasing its total installed manufacturing capacity from 1,100 tonnes per day (TPD) to 2,350 TPD, positioning itself among the largest maize-based specialty products manufacturers in India.
The company stated that the Shirpur-Dhule manufacturing complex will become one of the country’s largest single-location maize wet milling facilities following the expansion.
The capacity enhancement is being implemented in two phases. While the native starch expansion has now been commissioned, the derivatives manufacturing facility is expected to become operational during FY2026-27.
Located strategically near major maize-growing regions and ports, the Dhule facility is expected to provide logistical advantages, improve sourcing efficiencies, and strengthen export capabilities. The expanded capacity is also anticipated to support rising domestic and international demand across food, pharmaceutical, animal nutrition, and industrial applications.
Commenting on the development, Gouthamchand Chowdhary said the commissioning marks an important milestone in the company’s expansion journey and enhances its ability to serve a growing and diversified customer base.
He added that although the company had initially planned a 1,000 MTPD expansion at the time of its IPO, it successfully scaled the additional crushing capacity to 1,250 MTPD, reflecting strong execution capabilities and operational efficiency.
Sanstar currently manufactures a range of maize-based products including native starch, modified starch, liquid glucose, maltodextrin, dextrose, dextrin, and industrial derivatives catering to sectors such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, personal care, paper, fermentation, and animal nutrition.
The company operates manufacturing facilities in Dhule, Maharashtra, and Kutch, Gujarat, and expects the ongoing expansion to strengthen its position in both domestic and export markets.
