Power Mech Projects Limited Secures ₹579 Crore Contract from BHEL for Civil Structural & Architectural Works at DVC Koderma Phase-II

In a significant development, Power Mech Projects Limited has successfully secured a contract worth ₹579 crore (excluding GST) from Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for extensive Civil Structural and Architectural Works at the 2×800 MW DVC Koderma Thermal Power Station (KTPS) Phase-II in Jharkhand.

 

The contract encompasses a wide range of civil works, including levelling and grading of the entire power block area from the transformer yard to the flue gas desulfurization (FGD) unit for Unit #3 and #4. The scope further extends to key power infrastructure elements such as the power house, boiler, electrostatic precipitator (ESP), mill and bunker, turbine generator (TG), boiler feed pump (BFP), fan foundations, FGD, CEP, CW pit, ESP control room, chimney raft, ID ducts, paving works, and multiple service buildings with parking facilities.

 

Additionally, the project includes the construction of various essential structures, such as the CST pump house, compressor room, diesel generator (DG) facility, material receiving station (MRS), air conditioning and ventilation ducting, labour hutments for workers, land leasing, restrooms for operation and maintenance (O&M) staff, as well as sheds for construction and O&M workers. The project also incorporates a rooftop solar system foundation within the power block area and infrastructure for sewage water lines, LP piping, and fire-fighting systems within the boiler-turbine-generator (BTG) area.

 

Further civil works under the contract cover the construction of pipe racks, cable racks, buried CW ducts within the power house area, switchyard works, fire protection systems (FPS), a dedicated customer office, and fencing to ensure isolation between the existing station and the new project.

 

The contract, awarded by BHEL, a Government of India undertaking, is a domestic project and is scheduled to be executed over 32 months from the date of the Letter of Award (LOA). The order is expected to significantly contribute to the development of crucial energy infrastructure in Jharkhand, reinforcing the commitment to India’s power sector expansion.
