Ramkrishna Forgings Commissions New Cold Forging Facility in Jharkhand

Ramkrishna Forgings Limited, a leading manufacturer of forged components, has announced the commencement of its new Cold Forgings facility at Plot No. 1988, Mouza Dugni, Kolabira, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Jharkhand. The facility, which has been operational from January 31, 2025, adds a production capacity of 25,000 Tonnes Per Annum (TPA) to the company’s total forging capacity, which now stands at 2,54,150 TPA.

Expansion into Cold Forging Technology

Cold forging is a new process for Ramkrishna Forgings, marking a significant advancement in its manufacturing capabilities. Unlike traditional hot forging, cold forging is a metalworking process conducted at room temperature using high pressure. This technique enhances metal strength, durability, and dimensional accuracy, making it ideal for producing complex and intricate designs with a superior surface finish.

Forgings manufactured through this process are stronger, more ductile, and more resistant to fatigue and shock, offering improved mechanical properties compared to conventional forging methods.

Company’s Current and Expanded Capacity

Prior to this expansion, Ramkrishna Forgings operated with a Hot and Warm Forgings capacity of 2,29,150 TPA. As of December 31, 2024, the company reported an 87.22% capacity utilization in its hot and warm forging operations.

With the addition of 25,000 TPA of Cold Forgings, the total forging capacity now stands at 2,54,150 TPA, further strengthening the company’s ability to cater to domestic and global demand.

Investment and Financing

The total investment for this new Cold Forgings facility is estimated at ₹125 crore, funded through a mix of debt and internal accruals. This strategic investment aligns with the company’s long-term vision to enhance its technological expertise and manufacturing efficiency.

Strategic Importance and Growth Prospects

Ramkrishna Forgings’ entry into Cold Forging technology will significantly broaden its product portfolio, allowing it to cater to industries that require high-strength, precision-engineered components. The company expects this move to drive growth and strengthen its position in the automotive, railways, defense, and industrial equipment sectors.

By integrating Cold Forging capabilities, Ramkrishna Forgings is well-positioned to meet the increasing demand for lightweight, high-strength components while enhancing cost-efficiency and sustainability in manufacturing.
